On our last night, a bunch of us headed to El Tigre, a tapas joint that serves beer, sangria, and a hell of a lot of food. Two 6oz beers and a plate of tapas came out to 3euros. A steal in my book. This is the place where you'll generally see locals and tourists mingling and having a great time.
Here we got some prawns, bread with manchego cheese, fried fritters, ham, and roasted green chiles. 3euros! It was superb! The fritter was to die for and the prawns were perfectly cooked.
Another fan favorite was the mussels stuffed with pico de gallo. The combination of tomatoes, onions and jalapenos really brought the best out of the mussel.
Here we have a stuffed mushroom with bits of serrano ham. If you love serrano ham, you will absolutely love these!
The aftermath.
Did I mention you can purchase an even larger beer? Larger as in 6x the size of a regular one? This is 36 ounces of San Miguel people. The perfect liquid to wash down plates upon plates of tasty tapas.
Who doesn't love churros? So dough-y, so chewy, so unhealthy, especially in Madrid where they give you a 4oz cup of pure melted chocolate to go with it. Hey, they may be fat bombs but I didn't say they weren't delicious...
This is the stuff 2000 calories are made of. Pure chocolate to dip your churro in. My last meal would be a pint of this stuff with at least 50 churros. The sauce was so thick you could brush your teeth with it! Loved it till the last drop...
HOLY CRAP! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?!?
Two things:
1. Got a little lazy
2. Got a new Job
Rest assured I've done a bunch of traveling and have tons to share with you! Lets get started... again!
So we heard a lot about this seafood place called Legal Seafood. I know, kinda shoddy name but with so many people giving it high praise we had to give it a shot. You can find one in Bedford where they filmed that mall cop movie with the guy from King of Queens. Anywho, the food! Started of course with the clam chowder... rich, creamy, chunky goodness like no other. Better than the day before at the bar. Well seasoned, well proportioned and overall awesome.
This is the seafood trio roll. Lobster, crab, and I completely forgot the last, but no matter because it was damn good. The seafood was fresh and ultra sweet and there wasn't an overabundance of condiments to blind the flavor. The celery and onions added that much needed crunch and the bread was soft but didn't allow any sauce to run down the sides. My sides included an awesome slaw and a deliciously fresh orzo salad that I should start making at every dinner party I host.
Legal Seafood. Forget the name, just eat there!
Fans of beneighs will know Cafe Le Monde but unfortunately after a huge meal at the Acme Oyster House, we only had enough room for a cafe au leit. It was a cute French influenced cafe with old school waiters/waitresses running from table to table. If the weather is nice I highly reccommend having a cup outside.
This guys having a good time! PRobably hopped up on triple shot espressos, either way I loved this cafe. Next time I'll save room for dessert.

The one place everyone needs to go to when they're in New Orleans is here, The Acme Oyster House. Ultra fresh, straight from the gulf, home cooked seafood. I can't remember the last time I had shellfish this ridiculously good. The place is a semi-dive but the crowd was totally into the food as well as the atmosphere. It was super comforting and the smell alone is worth putting in a jar and taking it back home.
Rule #1: The first word out of your mouth should be crawfish. Just get them. They're still alive before they boil them to perfection. Salty, spicy, delicious. It's like eating mini-lobsters one by one.
To your left is the jambalaya and on the right is the seafood gumbo. I'm telling you guys, they were amazing. Spicy but not too spicy, and the seafood really shined. This is the ultimate comfort food. The jambalaya was $2! Incredible!
Grilled oysters with parmesan butter sauce. You C-A-N-T lose! They were still bubbling when they arrived on the table and smelled so awesome. They're the size of an adult thumb and have the texture of smooth silk. Even if you're iffy about oysters (like my friend was), you would love this. Soak up the remaining juices with the bread and you're good to go.
I'm going to be very honest here... This was, the best, dessert I've ever had. I solemnly swear that every time I come to New Orleans I will have the pecan cobbler. It was that good. Imagine heaven in a martini glass. My friend described it as not being fair. I agree. Best dessert, all time, undisputed.
Go to the Acme Oyster House. That's it.
